The mysterious Star Wars series rumored to be set during the High Republic has reportedly started pre-production.

A month ago, a Star Wars project under the working title Grammar Rodeo was revealed to be in the works. Then, word started to come out that Spider-Man director Jon Watts would helm episodes of this unannounced series. The series is also apparently set during the High Republic era and described as “Stranger Things in space” per Cinelinx.

There’s currently still no word from Lucasfilm about this Star Wars series. Still, the Bespin Bulletin has now shared an update that the rumored High Republic has been in pre-production in Culver City, California for a few weeks. Bespin Bulletin goes on to say that sets are being built before filming starts in June and that Manhattan Beach will also be a shooting location for the rumored series.

The High Republic era started off as a publishing initiative from Lucasfilm in 2021. However, a video game set during the period is also currently in the works from Quantum Dream. The Acolyte series set for Disney Plus is expected to shoot soon as well and will take place during the final days of the era. If another High Republic series is in the works, an official announcement might come at Star Wars Celebration in May.

Here is the synopsis for the next Star Wars series hitting Disney Plus, Obi-Wan Kenobi:

During the reign of the Galactic Empire, former Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi embarks on a crucial mission. Kenobi must confront allies turned enemies and face the wrath of the Empire.

Directed by Deborah Chow from Joby Harold’s scripts, the series stars Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie. The series will also see the return of legendary Star Wars composer John Williams, who scored a theme.

Obi-Wan Kenobi will hit Disney Plus on May 25, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the future of the franchise, and subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
