The long-awaited return of Todd Bowles in a head coaching position is over.
It has been four years since he last coached an NFL team.
The last team he coached was the New York Jets from 2015 to 2018.
Now, he has the high-powered Tampa Bay Buccaneers to coach going into the 2022 NFL season.
The chance he has with the Bucs is different than his time in New York.
They never gave him a well put together team with the Jets.
He can now show he is deserving of this second chance in Tampa Bay.
Coaching Tampa Bay is a dream job for any NFL coach.
They have a great defense and the best quarterback in the NFL in Tom Brady.
The second chance for Bowles also gives Brady something that some suspected he wanted all along.
Total power play by Tom Brady.
He got BA out. Brady got his guy Leftwich in as pretty much his personal head coach.
Brady won’t deal w Bowles hardly at all. And Bowles will be OK with that.

Bowles Gives Brady Free Rein Of The Offense With Coordinator Byron Leftwich
Brady gave a heartfelt message on the departure of Bruce Arians.

The message was for show, some think.
Some people think Brady is happy that Arians is no longer the head coach.
They say Arians worked against Brady and Leftwich, something that might have led Brady to retire originally.
Reports came out last season that Tom Brady and Byron Leftwich would have their week’s game plan ready and Bruce Arians would come in and essentially rip it up. With a defensive minded Todd Bowles replacing Arians, it removes any pushback on what Brady/Leftwich’s game plan. pic.twitter.com/JVwj8lTuNG

With Bowles being a defensive-minded person, the assumption is he will let Leftwich and Brady have free rein on offense.
Brady might have come back from retirement because Tampa Bay gave him total control of the offense.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
Bowles’ Time In New York Should Allow Him To Have A Mulligan
In his four-year career as head coach for the Jets, Bowles only had one winning season.
The team would make trades to acquire receiver Brandon Marshall and quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick.
The only noteworthy moves the Jets made in 2015 were those two.
Bowles would help the team go to a 10-6 record in his first season with the Jets.
However, that wouldn’t be enough to make the playoffs as the Pittsburgh Steelers took the last playoff spot based on a tiebreaker.
From there, it would be downhill for Bowles and the Jets.
He would finish his last three seasons with New York having a 14-34 record.
What he accomplished in his first season with the Jets is remarkable.
The team never had a stacked roster, like the Buccaneers currently have.
But yet he still got the Jets within one game of making the playoffs.
However, Bowles’ story it different in Tampa Bay with him having a Ferrari with the Bucs.
He Will Succeed In Tampa Bay
He already knows the staff and playbook of the team.
The players respect him, and he is a proven leader.
Those things are critical when taking over a head coach position.
He also gives Brady what people say the seven-time Super Bowl champion wants.
If Bowles leaves all the offensive game plans to Brady and Leftwich, he will have no issues on that side of the ball.
He will need to work with the new defensive coordinator on his defensive game plan.
With those things in place, Bowles will succeed in Tampa for 2022.
